Automotive Applications Engineering Group based in Detroit Michigan is
seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Senior System Engineer.
The
candidate will serve as the engineering liaison to a strategic partner
in Japan. Fluency in Japanese is required and the candidate can expect
to evenly split their time between Japan and our Detroit office. The
candidate will be responsible for the planning, directing and
coordinating of multiple simultaneous projects centered on the
development and validation of Li-Ion Battery Systems for grid connected
systems, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicle applications.
Detailed Description:
Acting
as the A123Systems engineering representative, applicant will plan,
direct and coordinate joint development projects. Duties include
significant engineering input and involvement. Project involvement will
be throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept,
through the requirements elicitation phases, to development of
specifications, through development and DFMEA, through testing and
design validation, to manufacturing release including development of
full documentation. Applicant should have a strong knowledge of
automotive battery systems, embedded software, and vehicle battery
integration. You will work closely with both internal management and
customers to ensure that quality and delivery goals are achieved.
Key Duties:
- 50% travel requirement (Japan)
- Serve as lead engineering representative in joint development projects
- Answer and resolve engineering and coordination issues from both sides
- Interact with customers at both executive and technical levels as well as internal engineering management
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and speaking skills in both English and Japanese
- Excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of Japanese cultural norms
- Minimum 5 years experience in the field of automotive products development
- Understanding of, and experience with, high voltage automotive battery system safety systems, software, and testing
- Knowledge of, experience with, and commitment to rigorous, quality-driven engineering process methods, including strong understanding and support of reliability and continuous improvement
- Experience in both high level requirements collection and low level design
- Experience in formal project management
- Experience in manufacturing specifically in document control and design handover to production team along the lines of ISO-type processes
- Strong understanding of Formal Development Processes, principles and objectives, both hardware and firmware
- Understanding of and experience with hardware and firmware testing methodologies and requirements
- Required education: B.S. EE/CS or at least 10 years relevant automotive EV experience.
